Terms & Conditions
1. Promoter
The Tallest Sunflower Competition (“Competition”) is promoted by Aasta van Hest and Brooke Barrass of Harcourts Cooper & Co (“Promoter”).
2. Eligibility
The Competition is open to North Shore residents only.
Entrants must register for the Competition using the official registration form on this webpage.
3. Official Competition Seeds
All sunflowers entered into the Competition must be grown from the official sunflower seeds supplied by the Promoter.
Sunflowers grown from any other seeds are not eligible for entry.
4. Competition Period
Entries may be submitted at any time during the Competition but must be received no later than close of business on Friday, 4 December 2026. Entries received after the closing date will not be eligible.
5. Growing Requirements
Sunflowers may be grown in the ground or in a pot. Entrants may use fertiliser, plant food and other standard growing aids.
Sunflowers may be supported using stakes or similar supports, however, the sunflower itself must grow naturally and must not be artificially extended, stretched, lifted or otherwise altered for the purpose of increasing its measured height.
6. Number of Sunflowers
Entrants may grow as many sunflowers as they wish from the official competition seeds.
Only the entrant’s tallest sunflower may be submitted as their final Competition entry.
7. Measuring Your Sunflower
The sunflower must be measured from the base of the stem at soil level to the highest point of the tallest petal.
The sunflower must be standing when measured and must not be lifted, stretched or otherwise manipulated to increase its height.
A measuring tape must be positioned alongside the sunflower and the measurement must be clearly visible in the photographs submitted.
8. Photographic Evidence
To be eligible, entrants must submit:
– One full-length photo showing the entire sunflower with the measuring tape clearly visible beside it; and
– One close-up photo of the flower head with the measuring tape showing the final height.
The Promoter reserves the right to request additional photographs or information where reasonably required to verify an entry or measurement.
9. Submitting Your Entry
Required photographs must be emailed to aasta.vanhest@harcourts.co.nz no later than close of business on Friday, 4 December 2026.
10. Grand Prize
The eligible entrant with the tallest verified sunflower will receive a $1,000 Prezzy Card.
The prize is not transferable, exchangeable or redeemable for cash.
11. Spot Prizes
Additional spot prizes may be awarded throughout the Competition.
Details of spot prizes and how they may be won will be announced via @aastaandbrooke on Instagram.
Following @aastaandbrooke on Instagram is encouraged but is not a requirement for entry into the Competition or eligibility for the Grand Prize.
12. Winner
The Competition winner will be determined based on the tallest eligible sunflower whose measurement has been verified to the Promoter’s satisfaction. If two or more eligible sunflowers are verified as being the same winning height, the $1,000 Prezzy Card prize will be divided equally between the tied winners.
The winner is expected to be announced on Friday, 11 December 2026 and may be contacted using the details provided when registering for the Competition.
13. Verification & Disqualification
The Promoter reserves the right to verify any entry and may disqualify an entry where it reasonably considers that:
– The sunflower was not grown from the official competition seeds;
– The measurement cannot be adequately verified;
– The sunflower or its measurement has been manipulated or misrepresented; or
– The entry otherwise fails to comply with these Terms & Conditions
– The Promoter’s decision regarding the eligibility and measurement of entries will be final.
14. Photographs & Publicity
By entering the Competition, entrants agree that photographs submitted as part of their entry may be used by the Promoter in connection with the Competition, including announcing winners and promoting the Competition through social media, digital marketing and other promotional channels.
15. Privacy
Personal information collected through the Competition will be used for the purposes of administering the Competition, communicating with entrants and awarding prizes, and will otherwise be handled in accordance with applicable privacy requirements.
16. General
The Promoter reserves the right to amend, suspend or cancel the Competition if circumstances outside its reasonable control make this necessary.
By entering the Competition, entrants are deemed to have read and accepted these Terms & Conditions.
